The role of religion in state legislations is often overlooked, but in many regions it still plays a large role. In countries such as Indonesia, Pakistan and the UAE, the religion in case is Islam. This webinar will offer a more global understanding of the dynamics of working within a religious framework in state laws, and the effects this has on culture.

The three-dimensional approach is guaranteed by offering the perspectives of both a US-based academic and a lawyer practicing the application of Shari'a Law in Pakistan. Finally, a UBC scholar will explain the dynamics of non-Muslims being convicted in state courts under Shari'a Law.
